Lloyd uses intarsia, a woodworking technique that combines individually cut pieces of wood to create multicolored images. Smithwick creates fabric artwork using kinusaiga, a Japanese technique that incorporates fabric into patterns without sewing. Lloyd took over the woodworking craft from his brother-in-law's family and enjoys seeing shoppers react to the finished pieces, which feature detailed designs of animals and familiar subjects. The studio accepts custom orders and can be found online under its business name.
