Clintonville Residents and Columbus Police Help Recover Amputee’s Stolen Electric Trikes

Stolen e-trikes were recovered in Columbus with the help of community, Columbus police officers, and Bike Snoop Facebook Group. Eva Simons, a lifelong outdoor enthusiast and avid hiker and cyclist, was robbed of her two e-assist recumbent tricycles by thieves in her Clintonville garage on December 8th. Simons posted information on Facebook and filed a report with Columbus Police regarding the theft on Bike Snoop. After her Facebook post, a vigilant Clintonville resident spotted one of the special bikes in the bushes near train tracks and alerted local cycling community. Following a three-day recovery, Simons' second e-trike was recovered on December 11th and two suspects were taken into custody and their cars and phones were impounded for further investigation. The theft of these trikes, particularly of e-bikes, has been on the rise in Columbus, with Simons and Officer Randall Lyons providing useful advice for preventing it.
