The band’s vehicle was rear-ended at 65+ miles an hour while they were driving to Columbus for the next stop on their spring tour.

Spafford was involved in a serious accident on Wednesday while traveling to Columbus. The members of the band were taken to a nearby hospital and cleared by staff following the harrowing ordeal. The show will go on tonight at Columbus’ Woodlands Tavern.

“Yesterday as we drove to Columbus we were rear-ended by another vehicle due to two heavy load escorts blocking the highway causing an abrupt traffic stop after a blind curve,” wrote Spafford on socials in a note about the crash. “We got a little banged up but we are all ok and so is the other driver.”

Spafford — guitarist Brian Moss, bassist Jordan Fairless, drummer Nick Tkachyk and keyboardist Cory Schechtman — went on thank the staff at Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, West Virginia, where they were treated. The band also gave thanks to automobile manufacturer Chevrolet “for making a strong enough vehicle to withstand being hit from behind at 65+ miles an hour.”

In images shared from “one of the scariest things [Spafford] ever experienced on tour,” guitarist Brian Moss can be seen wearing a neckbrace with a large abrasion on his forehead. A photo taken today of the band (see above) shows the cut on Moss’ head seems to be healing.
