A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit by former Mount Carmel doctor William Husel, accusing his former employer of seeking his indictment in court.

Husel claimed Trinity Health, which owns Mount Carmel, launched a smear campaign in the media and provided misleading information to prosecutors.

A Franklin County grand jury indicted him in 2019 on 25 counts of murder. Eleven of those were later dismissed by prosecutors.

A jury acquitted him on the remaining murder counts in 2022.

Judge Jonathan J.C. Grey in the Eastern District of Michigan dismissed his lawsuit Thursday, saying his allegations lacked specific factual support that the grand jury proceedings were irregular as Husel claimed Trinity Health gave misleading information to prosecutors who presented that information to the grand jury.
