Airspace restriction warning in place in Columbus-Chillicothe area this week

Pilots are urged to review federal notices as NORAD enforces temporary flight restrictions over Columbus and Chillicothe on Oct. 27-28, with similar restrictions in Corpus Christi and Lubbock, Texas. Violations may result in interception and federal enforcement actions. Check NOTAMs before flying. The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) has issued temporary flight restrictions above the Columbus and Chillicothe areas in the Columbus-Chillicothe area on Oct. 27 and 28. The restrictions are also in areas over Corpus Christi and Lubbock, Texas. Pilots are being instructed to check federal notices before each flight, which are required by the Federal Aviation Administration. Pilors who violate restricted airspace may also be met by federal authorities on landing and could be subject to interview or further enforcement action. On Oct. 17, a NORAD F-16 fighter aircraft intercepted a general aviation aircraft over Cincinnati as President Donald Trump was visiting the area. Piloters can access TFR information published by the FAA at tfr.faa.
