The Columbus Wildcats are getting back on the course for a new golf season. There will be many new faces for the Columbus boys, as well as returners like junior Ryan Coil, who had an average nine-hole score of 64 strokes last year. Wildcats head coach Dave Whittman tells KCII Sports he sees the potential and the growth from Coil to become a top player.

“[Coil is] a decent golfer,” Whittman says. “He’s really been improving over the spring. [I am] looking for good stuff from him. He’s probably going to be the anchor of our club this year.”

Columbus will have all three of its girls’ golfers back from last season in sophomores Kinlee Brown, Jocelyn Hernandez and Hailey Wellington. The Wildcats will play in their first golf meet of the season Tuesday when they join Highland and WACO at New London.
