UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio (WCMH) – A major road project will impact several Upper Arlington neighborhoods this summer.

The next phase of the Fishinger Road reconstruction project will start this Thursday, May 30, in the city’s ongoing effort to stabilize the road and improve the city’s infrastructure.

The following road closures will begin this week and next:

In addition, Kioka Avenue will close for one day on Monday, June 3. Sunset Drive will remain closed through August unless Kioka Avenue needs to close after June 3.

According to the city, the Fishinger Road project involves removing the roadway base on the south side of the road starting near Mountview Road and moving west. Detour signs will be placed at intersections on Edgevale Road guiding traffic during the closures.

Both directions of Fishinger Road are scheduled to reopen following this phase of the project, the city said.

Trash and recycling services will not be affected by the closures and driveways will be maintained to allow residents access to their homes, the city said.

According to the city, Fishinger Road was last reconstructed in the 1960s and 1970s and last repaved in 2002.

“This project enhances Fishinger Road to serve as a connector between residential communities and commercial businesses to maintain economic development in the area,” the city posted on the project’s website.

The project is estimated to cost $9,542,200, with $5.5 million coming from grants.
