Starting a New Chapter: Cindy Frey reflects on her time with the Chamber and post-retirement life. - The Republic News

Cindy Frey says she’s “satisfied” with having her career years spent in the community-development field “in the rearview mirror.” That said, she sees a common thread through the stops on that path: “always promoting Columbus as a place to visit and live.” She also relishes life’s new phase, which is characterized by travel, parents, children, grandchildren, wellness and a touch of volunteerism. Cindy Frey, a former member of the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce, has reflected on her career in the community-development field and plans to embark on a new phase of life, which includes travel, children, grandchildren, and volunteerism. She credits her success to promoting Columbus as a great place to visit and live. Frey, originally from St. Louis, majored in English at DePauw University and worked at the Indiana Department of Commerce before moving to Columbus in 1996. She was part-time position with Leadership Bartholomew County, worked with the Community Education Coalition and Cummins as communications specialist for the corporate responsibility group. Frey also oversaw growth in the Chamber’s foundation, which launched Propeller, a creative-skill-building center at the Columbus Municipal Airport. Since retiring, she has spent time with her family in the North Georgia mountains and plans a trip to Ireland and Nevis and St. Kitts.
